"At the moment, the key playing field that these devices compete in is link aggregation of 3G networks, where a single mobile/cellular data service may not be able to offer or sustain the bandwidths between 1Mbps and 2Mbps required for broadcast (or near-broadcast) quality video.
These devices aggregate several such services together and use them in parallel to create a single, higher availabilty and higher capacity connection."
All of these units allow you to utilize multiple standard USB-type mobile connection units, those typically used to connect to the Internet outside of your home, to aggregate the bandwidth available on each into one coherent stream.
Nonetheless prices for this type of equipment are way out of my investment range, I am quite curious to see how this technology develops and whether there will be soon prosumer-level solutions.
