Empathy can play a valued role in the workplace with colleagues and with customers. When employees have the emotional ability to put themselves in others’ places, they may deal with sensitive issues sensitively.

Empathy is a foundation for productive communication and relationship building. Team building can guide employees toward examining and identifying their emotions and those of their teammates. Empathy is a first cousin of compassion, the exhibition of which can promote an emotionally healthy work culture.
