DarkWave Studio is a modular virtual studio for the creation of electronic music.
With DarkWave Studio you can easily use the included audio machines and third party VST effects and instruments to create music. DarkWave Studio allows the connection of machines in an ad-hoc cabling fashion. DarkWave Studio comes with both native versions for 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows, although you may use the 32-bit version on all editions of Windows for backwards compatibility with 32-bit VST plug ins.

Il y a beaucoup d'alternatives au moment de choisir une solution pour pouvoir composer et graver des chansons, mais très peu d'alternatives gratuites disposent d'autant d'options comme DarkWave Studio. Il s'agit d'un environnement de production par modules qui compte de différents instruments virtuels, compatibilité avec des VST et un enregistreur multipiste 8 chaînes.
Le logiciel est compatible avec les cartes son ASIO et MME, en plus de permettre de contrôler les appareils virtuels actifs avec un clavier contrôleur MIDI. Il dispose d'un système modulable, qui permet d'envoyer des signaux entre les appareils comme vous voulez, au contraire que sur d'autres applications audio.
Entre les instruments virtuels inclus il y a un ES DGenR8 (un synthétiseur de batteries qui recrée le son de la mythique Roland TR-909), un ES BassHead (un synthétiseur analogique qui ressemble au TB-303), un ES Stomp (générateur de subwoofer) et un ES SpatialVerb (processeur de réverbération avec de différentes ambiances).
