How To Live Video Stream An Event By Remote Controlling Multiple GoPro Cameras

How To Live Video Stream An Event By Remote Controlling Multiple GoPro Cameras | Online Video Publishing |

Robin Good: Tom Guilmette has published an excellent guide on how you can use multiple GoPro camcorders to do a live video stream of a live event.

From the original article: "For under $300 you get a tiny wide angle 16:9 1080p camera that is also a self contained video camcorder.

The GoPro records picture and sound to built in SD cards as mp4 files.

You can put GoPros anywhere (and yea, they are even waterproof in the included case).

And now GoPro has released a Hero2 new model that has sharper optics, an easy to navigate menu, better light sensitivity and more recording options.

...many of you may not know that these little cameras can output analog and HD signals that can be fed into a live production truck.

This article will tell you how to do it and why most attempts to get these to work as live POVs prove to be an epic failure."

The article includes lots of tips on ancillary equipment you will need such cables, plugs, convertes and convertors of all kinds, including links and product images.

Highly recommended. 9/10

P2P Live Video Streaming Is Coming: BitTorrent Live

P2P Live Video Streaming Is Coming: BitTorrent Live | Online Video Publishing |

Robin Good: P2P video live streaming is now a reality albeit still in the Beta testing phase. BitTorrent has now a live web site where you can download the P2P video streaming software for either PC, Mac or Linux computers.

Once installed you can test the effectiveness of P2P live video streaming technology by checking out the test streams or the live sessions every Friday night (8pm PST).

"Conventional video streaming—through, say, YouTube or Netflix—eats up network resources because each user is pulling in their own individual feed.

The live peer-to-peer (P2P) streaming protocol created by BitTorrent founder and chief scientist Bram Cohen, instead works much like BitTorrent itself does.

Everybody that requests a certain video stream shares the feed between themselves, rather than just leeching the content.

This reportedly reduces lag drastically, network load and increases video quality for those watching.

And, just like when torrenting, the more people that sign on to a stream, the better it looks for everybody."

Adaptive Live Video Streaming: Everything You Need To Know [Video]

Adaptive Live Video Streaming: Everything You Need To Know [Video] | Online Video Publishing |

From the article: "In a 45-minute session at the recent Streaming Media West conference in Los Angeles, MTV Jan Ozer taught a roomful of attendees the basics and complexities of adaptive streaming.

“There’s two basic types of adaptive streaming technologies: one is a server-based technology, and the primary server-based technology now is RTMP Flash. With a server-based technology, the server is in charge of delivering a different stream to the player,”...

“With an HTTP-based system, which is HTTP Flash, HTTP Live Streaming — or HLS, which is the Apple system — the player monitors the same characteristics, but it’s in charge of going to get a different stream when the circumstances dictate a stream change, ...
