Add Movement To Your Time-Lapse Clips While Keeping Your Camera Still: Panolapse

Robin Good's insight:

Panolapse is a downloadable software for Mac and PC that allows you to add realistic rotational pans to your time-lapse videography.

Typically these effects are achieved by mounting your camera on a motorized track that slides, or on a motorized head that rotates, or even both at the same time.

Another popular approach to achieve these results is to use video-editing software to digitally move your camera frame within the video frame itself, though the results tend to look a bit missing perspective changes, and therefore flat and unnatural.

From the official site: "Panolapse's movements are real-world accurate, allowing for natural panning motion.

Panolapse cannot add sliding movement like a dolly on a rail, but it can add rotational head movement.

Panolapse works best with wide-angle lenses, including fisheye lenses, allowing you to pan up to 180 degrees in two axis."

Panolapse supports all cameras, and works best with wide-angle or fish-eye lenses.

Panolapse is free for output resolutions up to 1280x720p.

For full-HD support beyond 720p a license costs $65.

Al mejor estilo MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) Yotube publica cursos online.

wanderingsalsero's curator insight, May 31, 2013 10:27 PM

I WILL be taking this.  Sounds like a great idea.  I'm convinced that a lot of the stuff the 'gurus' put in their courses (the ones they charge for) is freely available somewhere.  In the case of YouTube, I know for a fact that they publish a LOT of good stuff that's totally free....e.g. the YouTube Creators Playbook (that I found over a year ago).

I am also convinced that understand just this one simple, well-known tool of YouTube is (all by itself) a highly marketable skill.  I'll bet if you walked into 10 businesses and just said, "Hi, my name is Art Williams.  I'm a YouTube consultant.  Are you doing anything with YouTube to build your business?" it would lead to several people expressing interest.

I think the key to making that kind of prospecting work would be to have several different 'products' or services available.  Some people will need to be nurtured for a bit before they finally give you some real business....kinda like going into a Denny's and ordering an iced-tea first and then deciding that you really are hungry.

Create a Professional Video Channel Where To Sell and Rent Your Clips: Pivotshare

Create a Professional Video Channel Where To Sell and Rent Your Clips: Pivotshare | Online Video Publishing |
Pivotshare helps media creators and publishers sell their digital video content direct to their audiences, on our platform or your own site.
Robin Good's insight:

Robin Good's curator insight, May 9, 2013 5:59 AM

Pivotshare is a web service that allows any author or independent publisher to create a professional-looking video venue where to showcase, organize and (optionally) sell access to video and audio content.

Video channels created on Pivotshare will have a personalized URL such as, and you can further brand the channel with your selected profile picture or logo and your favorite background.

Video channels can be displayed as "showcases" or "libraries" depending on the quantity of material you have available, can be embedded on any web site and can be easily viewed across all types of screens and devices, from desktop to mobile.

On Pivotshare you can upload directly .MP4, .MOV, .SWF, .FLV, .AVI, and .MP3 files and organize them into discrete collections. You can add names, descriptions, relevant tags as well as decide how you want to make this material accessible.

You can for example let everyone see freely certain content, while at the same time making a "tip jar" facility available and setting your preferred minimum tip level. Or you can decide to set a "monthly subscription price", rather than a "rental" or "purchase" fee.

Check this image to get a better idea:

It is also possible to invite and collaborate with other authors / publishers contributing all to the same video channel.

Pivotshare is definitely a gret solution for independent authors and publishers, who are looking to start their commercial video channel online with the minimum effort and the maximum of results.

There are no costs involved. Pivotshare keeps a fixed percentage of your incoming revenues (unclear how much exactly).

Free to use.

How To Create A Viral Video Trailer for a New Book

How To Create A Viral Video Trailer for a New Book | Online Video Publishing |
How do you create a viral video? I am asked this quite a lot. I've been asked by authors, TV producers, and first-time Kickstarter entrepreneurs. In my experience, the answers are the same for all ...

How To Convert Prezi Presentations To YouTube Videos

How To Convert Prezi Presentations To YouTube Videos | Online Video Publishing |

Anyone who has used the Prezi platform would know that creating a Prezi and uploading it to is easy enough, however when it comes to converting it to a YouTube video, there seems to be no native method of doing so.

While you can convert PowerPoint to video formats using a native PowerPoint feature, the same cannot be said for the Prezi application.

However, you can convert Prezi to YouTube by using a workaround.

The Low-Cost Steadycam with The Hand-Brake: The Supraflux Video Camera Stabilizer

Super smooth footage and complete control of your camera with the electronic pan axis lock
Robin Good's insight:

If you are looking for an effective solution to your steady-shooting needs, this new low-cost steadycam, called the Stabilizer, comes to the rescue, thanks to an exceptionally successful crowdfunding support at Kickstarter.

The Stabilizer has one unique feature that puts it one step ahead of all similarly priced video camera stabilizers: the hand brake. With this feature alone the problem of panning and rotating the camera in different directions while using a stabilizing device has been solved.

From the official Kickstarter page: "Direction changes and panning are some of the biggest challenges when shooting with a stabilizer. The goal of a stabilizer is to keep the camera steady by absorbing your movements. So when it comes to turns, this effect actually keeps the camera from turning with you.

When you want the camera to turn, you have to use your fingers to change the stabilizer's direction; thereby destabilizing the camera. It takes lots of practice to get stable direction changes using this method and even then, sometimes you ruin an otherwise great shot. Until now."

Apx price: $500

Animate Your Comics and Illustrations Easily with MotionArtist

Robin Good's insight:

MotionArtist is a downloadable software for both Macs and Windows PCs which provides powerful animation capabilities to the non-expert animator, illustrator or comics designer.

With MotionArtists it is possible to capture, edit and animate existing comics and illustrations and to export the final product to most major video formats (including 1080p HD) or to HTML 5.

"MotionArtist, launched Tuesday, allows users to add movement to existing comics or create entirely new and diverse projects.

...MotionArtist was designing the simplest process for people who might not have a background in cartoons, but want to dive right in."

"Really what we've tried to do is create an animation tool for non-animators."

"In the program, users can create panels of any shape and then drop in layered images (like a Photoshop file). Then, using an intuitive point-to-point system, they can set the elements on paths and move them around within the panel.

Motion comics have grown in popularity in recent years, with popular comic book titles like X-Men making the jump to Netflix or YouTube, where they can be watched instead of read."

Great idea Catherine!
Lino's curator insight, July 12, 2013 4:13 AM
